Heck yeah! Orlando’s on this freakin’ list. Woot, woot!
Finally, someone who understands that Orlando and Kissimmee (the mass amounts of land owned by Disney) are very different places (and that Orlando is truly an awesome city).

YOU GUYS! CHECK IT OUT! :D :D :D :D
Our group for the Orlando 24 Hour Film Festival won an award for best cinematography! There are absolutely no words to describe the thrill of this honor to my life. It’s not necessarily what it is, but rather what it represents. It represents the beginning of so much more to come. I feel like this entire experience was the spark that was missing to ignite my flame.
I couldn’t have asked to have worked with a better crew, and evidently all our hard work paid off. I know this overexcitement may be silly to some, but I honestly couldn’t be more ecstatic!
(PS: We didn’t get the cash prize, but we got a freakin’ AWESOME Glidecam 4000, a copy of Sony Vegas, a sweet custom-made plaque, and some other cool little perks).
(PSS: Now that I’m finally allowed to upload the film, I’m doing so now. YouTube says it’ll take another 30 minutes).

Did I mention our 24-hour film festival crew made it to the top 24?

Heck yeah!

I really wish I could show you guys, but we’ll be disqualified if anyone posts the short film online. However, it’s going to be premiering at the Enzian Theater (local theater in Orlando) this Saturday, and also on a local PBS channel! So psyched!

(via drechez on Twitpic)
My director for the documentary we’re in the process finishing just sent me this picture she took on her film Minolta camera. The one in the black is me shooting one of the lessons (they were doing a trail ride at the time). It was such a blast, although I was trying my best to keep up with the horse. It didn’t help that it was about 95 degrees out (not to mention the humidity), so I probably permanently lost any trace of fat I might ever gain in college.

(Pictures: Uptown Altamonte. Read, and you’ll understand, hehe.)

Today was such a great day, I can’t even contain myself! You know, I wouldn’t think I’d be saying this, but it’s true! My day almost never “started,” in an odd way. I had a Lighting Lab from 1AM to 5AM (for which was pointless for me to sleep beforehand). I usually don’t like lab, but today was pretty awesome. I mean, we barely did much, but because I’m a night person, everything was so much better. We learned about color correction, CTO/CTB gels, and ND gels. Pretty fun, and I say that with no sarcasm ;) Although, I was getting ticked off at these kids in my group that didn’t do anything. It’s one thing to be tired and not want to do anything, and it’s another thing to lay on the bed of the set and talk all through lab.

Oh, for what it’s worth, I think there’s this girl that likes me. She’s crazy, funny, and probably one of the strangest people I’ve met. She’s great. But, yeah, I don’t see us together at all lol. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Right after lab, I took a short 3-hour nap, and went back to school for 8 hours of Public Speaking. I was grumpy then. I mean, 8AM is early. I don’t mind staying up to 4AM, but having to wake up after sleeping in my nice, cozy bed. That was difficult.

I had to do a speech/personal story, too! I think I was the 6th to go up, in a class of 50, and I think I did pretty good, if I must say so myself :) But don’t take my word for it, this is the commentary that my teacher gave me. (By the way. My speech was about when I went to see the sunrise with Lily and a few of our friends).

Hi Andre!

Thank you for your email.  I really enjoyed your speech today.  You started by saying, “I’m not a morning person,” with a smile and with your great personality at 10 AM, so I feel that this statement cannot possibly be true about you!  You had great energy, and the thing I liked best about you as a presenter was that your personality truly came through. You are such a good-natured speaker that your audience can’t help but love you!

Your content was really strong because of your vivid description and imagery of the sunrise.  Beautiful work.

In terms of delivery, you can improve on movement.  It is important to move across your entire “stage” to speak to both sides of the audience. This is one of the biggest challenges for Full Sail students, so please make certain to write “MOVE” on your note cards for your next speech. This will help your presentation overall.

Please let me know if you have any questions, Andre!

So, I think you’d imagine I was quite pleased with that response. Granted, it wasn’t graded, because it was our first speech, it still made me confident. As you can see, I still do need to MOVE more on stage lol.

In any case, I still had to sit down and listen to MANY more stories, but I didn’t mind. On our lunch break, our teacher gave us AN HOUR and FIFTEEN minutes. That’s freaking awesome! In all technicality, we’re supposed to only get half an hour. But so during this break, I managed to get Dunkin’ Donuts, listen to jazz, go home, watch an episode of The Office, pee, take a nap, brush my teeth, and find a perfect parking space! It was quite the scene!

So class was over, and a random burst of spontaneity overcame me, and I decided to drive to a park, in Uptown Altamonte, about 25 minutes away, just to walk. I still had about an hour and half worth of sunshine. I got there, and honestly, I couldn’t stop smiling. Everything was just so beautiful. There was not a cloud in the sky. The temperature was chilly, for me, but the sun was just hot enough to keep me warm. The people walking, the children playing. The beautiful lake. The Christmas decorations. Everything. Just perfect. I stayed there until it got dark. Walked around the lake twice (it takes about 20-30 minutes). But man, was it worth it. I took a few pictures with Instagram on my iPhone (I know it’s cliché, but I just started using it, and I like the effects).

Great day, I must say!

My Photography class assignment.

Yes. I finally got an assignment.

I got it Wednesday night. It’s due Friday at 9am (aka in 8 hours).
You want to know what it is? Of course you do.

It’s a scavenger hunt with 75 items.
50-70 items = 100% A
40-49 items = 89% B
30-39 items = 79% C
20-29 items = 72% D?
19-0 items = 69% F?

I don’t really get how a 72% can be a D and a 69% can be an F, but whatever.

Right now, I have FOR SURE 39 items. But, I’m HOPING, I can get 12 more tomorrow morning before class. That would mean I would have an A! Some of the items on the list include:

  • Slinky Going Down Stairs
  • Smart Car
  • Skeleton in the Closet
  • An Irony
  • Starry Night (IMPOSSIBLE IN ORLANDO)
  • A Squirrel with a Muffin Wrapper
  • Classmates Playing Hopscotch
  • An Interesting Gravestone

Seriously though. It’s been kind of ridiculous hahaha. And on top of that, this weekend is Rock the Universe (Friday + Saturday), and my friends are coming over. I just technically “moved in” (because my roommates old roommate finally moved out). So I had to buy a whole bunch of stuff for the bathroom, a comforter, laundry hamper, etc. Not to mention spending almost two hours cleaning dust from a fan and blinds. It was RIDICULOUS. I mean, probably a year or two without being cleaned.

Anyway. Life update. Not like you cared.
Hope everything is well with everyone.

First Baptist Orlando today. It was pretty good! Nice and big. The worship was really good and the message, too! Though, I think it was a little bit on the traditional side for me lol. Not really a complaint, more of a preference. I’m not used to a whole bunch of suits and shirts tucked in and stuff. That’s just me lol. I really dig punk rock type things. Guys with gauges in their ears. Hillsong United type of stuff. Blah blah blah. Not hating on everything else though. Don’t be like: “You go against the traditions of Christianity” and all that crap hahaha. Anyway. I liked it.
I’m going to another church this night, though, just to check it out. Discovery Church which has a college/student ministry called Status. We’ll see how it goes :)
