Freedom Ride
This is documentary our crew created for our documentary class.
Hope you enjoy.
Freedom Ride is a non-profit therapeutical horseback riding center for the mentally and physically disabled located in Orlando, FL. Since 1998, Freedom Ride has helped adults and children in a number of ways.
Their lease is expiring in less than five years and they’re in desperate need of funds for a new location to continue this inspiring work they’ve created.
A group of students came together to do a short documentary on what Freedom Ride is and how it has helped people in ways never imaginable. Our goal is to spread awareness of this cause and hopefully touch the hearts of enough people to keep Freedom Ride going.
The Path
End of DAY 3
Today we finish up with DAY 4, and we’ll be completely done!
Thanks so much for all the support. God’s been incredibly gracious to all of us. And we couldn’t have done it without everyone else.
(More pictures to come)
Tomorrow morning is our first day of shooting for “The Path”
And the 16mm camera we got won’t turn on. We’re gonna try and have a couple of film instructors take a look at it an hour before we start shooting, but it looks like a lost cause (and we can’t reschedule because of our location/insurance).
Because of that, we already have an alternative plan in action, in case all attempts are met with no avail. Jeremy (the director) has a really old 1960s 16mm camera that really wasn’t meant for creating films, but that we still plan on using anyway since we have available film. Alongside that, we’ll also be having DSLRs (probably a Canon 60D) in case the former doesn’t work.
All I know is we’re making a movie no matter what happens!
The Path — Please Read
I don’t usually ask people for favors, but this project is very, very near and dear to my heart. I know it’ll affect a countless amount of people, and I’m so ready to make it happen. The reality of it, however, is that none of us (I think) are singlehandedly in a position of donating $3,000. But together — dollar by dollar, step by step — I know as a collective whole we can make this project happen.
I really would love for you to be a part of this alongside myself and a phenomenal crew, and I know you will never regret it. Even if you can’t, I just want to thank you all for your constant friendship; all you followers mean a lot to me.
So, take a look at the trailer and pitch, and see what we’re all about. (Note: This isn’t a school project — just something we as a group of friends really would love to see materialized).

I’ve been hearing about the possibility of this for years. I love this quote from the linked article, which is from Scorsese’s introduction to Endo’s book:
“How do you tell the story of Christian faith? The difficulty, the crisis, of believing? How do you describe the struggle? There have been many great twentieth century novelists drawn to the subject – Graham Greene, of course, and François Mauriac, Georges Bernanos…[Shusaku Endo] understood the conflict of faith, the necessity of belief fighting the voice of experience. The voice that always urges the faithful – the questioning faithful – to adapt their beliefs to the world they inhabit, their culture…That’s a paradox, and it can be an extremely painful one: on the face of it, believing and questioning are antithetical. Yet I believe that they go hand in hand. One nourishes the other. Questioning may lead to great loneliness, but if it co-exists with faith – true faith, abiding faith – it can end in the most joyful sense of communion. It’s this painful, paradoxical passage – from certainty to doubt to loneliness to communion – that Endo understands so well, and renders so clearly, carefully and beautifully in Silence.”
IMDB says it’s they’re in the process of pre-production right now. Hopefully after March they’ll start production somewhere, and somehow, I’m going to try and work on this film.
